About Us

Deepastambha Charitable Trust was founded in the year 2008, by a group of youngsters, inspired by the value of collaboration in resolving social issues.

Deepastambha+ is a newly formed group for elderly people around their fifties. Every month various social activities are conducted considering comfort and skillsets of the age group.

Philosophy

A common approach to problems around us is to “complain, criticize and censure”.

We are prompt to notice an issue but rarely think of taking action on it. In Marathi, there’s a saying, ” शिवाजी जन्मावा पण दुसऱ्याच्या घरात” (let Shivaji be born, but not in our house). Hardly we find ourselves willing to take lead, accept the onus and bring the change we all had wished for.

With a firm belief in the spirit of “collaboration”, Team Deepastambha has taken steps to initiate the shift from complaining to cooperation.

The second principle that Deepastambha firmly believes in is “sense of ownership” towards society. One has to feel the need for change, for it to occur. Without connecting or having a sense of ownership towards the society we can’t bring about change. This sense of ownership makes us more sensitive and responsible.

Our Mission

To integrate Social Sense in human beings for making the world a better place to live.

At Deepastambha, we believe our mission is to nurture and instigate social conscience in people and also to provide them with a platform to act on it through a wide range of initiatives.
